This course introduces the basic concepts and methods of statistics with applications in the experimental biological sciences. The aim of the course is to give the participant’s sufficient knowledge and techniques how to build a data set by design of field experiments, how to analyze and interpret their data. Topics covered include general methods of field experiments, presentation of data (graphs and tables), descriptive statistics, probability distributions, estimation of parameters, hypothesis testing, the analysis of variance, simple linear regression, correlation, and the analysis of attribute data. The course is required course for students in the field of agronomy and plant sciences.
